Mr. MM Murugappan is one of India’s leading industrialists and a fourth generation member of the Murugappa family. He has served as Executive Chairman of the Murugappa Group with diverse businesses across engineering, fertilizers, financial services, nutraceuticals etc.
Mr. Murugappan served as Chairman across many companies, including Carborundum Universal Limited, Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company Limited, and Cholamandalam Financial Holdings Limited. Previously he was the Executive Chairman of the Murugappa Group and served on the board of multiple companies within the Murugappa Group. He was a former Independent Director of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited. His current non-executive directorships include Messrs Carsons Cumberbatch, Srilanka.
He serves as a Trustee of the AMM Foundation and the Correspondent of the Murugappa Polytechnic College. He is a Member on the Board of IIT Madras-Research Park, mentors innovators and future leaders and provides guidance to many companies incubated there.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the AC College of Technology, University of Madras, and a Master of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, USA. He is a member of the American and Indian Institutes of Chemical Engineers, the Indian Ceramic Society and the Plastics and Rubber Institute.
